Here at St. Gerard Majella Church, we lovingly invite parents to take an active and meaningful role in the faith formation of their children. This year marks your second year of preparation for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion or — a sacred and important step in your family’s journey of faith.WHAT IS FIRST HOLY COMMUNION?
First Holy Communion is one of the most sacred moments in the life of a Christian. It is the first time a person receives Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist — His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity — under the appearance of bread and wine.At the Last Supper, Jesus gave this gift to His disciples when He said:
“Take and eat; this is my body.”
“Drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood.”
(Matthew 26:26–28)Through the Sacrament of the Eucharist, Jesus remains with His Church always. Holy Communion is not simply a symbol or a remembrance. Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing more during our orientation.
The orientation meeting will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in the Parish Hall at 10:30am, followed by Holy Mass at 12:00pm.
The first day of class is October 11, 2026. The Family will attend Mass at 9:00am and class at 10:15am.
